Hello all, This is our first post. We are due to make final payments and complete on our studio apartment in December 2009. It would be very difficult for us to travel to Bulgaria to sign in person in front of the Notary. Has anyone any experience of using a Solicitor to do this with Power of Atorney? Any ideas on approx cost, problems etc. Any recommendations, suggestions would be very much appreciated. does it have to be a Solicitor or has anyone used their Estate Agent?
We are in Block A1 facing the pool, does anyone know what number photo in the gallery shows this block? Thanks, Linda.

Hi,Fort noks will do this for you alot cheaper than using a solicitor. We purchased in C1 and did it with them and have spoken to a few people who let fort noks do it for them and nobody had any problems.

There should be no problem in making your final payment on time, then signing at the Notary the following summer
Send them an email to confirm
We did the above for an apartment on Nessebar Fort Club
Just make sure you take lots of cash when you see the Notary, they may want a little more than you think
I would not bother with a Solicitor, you just pay 20 Euros to the Fortnoks interpreter
Be aware it will probably take 6 Hours, as you go in a group

We have decided to finalise everything next month. The advantages of closing before the end of December appear to be that next year's council tax will be substantially less because the apartment will be privately owned rather than by FN., also they would charge us for drawing up the papers again. Teodor has been helpful in listing out all charges due, Council Tax 2009, Legal and Notary, etc., and booking our visit to the Notary, and we are hopeful that everything should go well. the cost of Power of Attorney was greater than the cost of the flights so it makes sense to go ourselves. We are looking forward to seeing the apartment for the first time and meeting a few neighbours if they are around! Linda

As Garyjs says you can pay in advance, then sign later as this is what we did. Fortnoks gave us a breakdown of all costs and we paid everything by money transfer in advance of going out there, the only money we paid while out there was for the interpreter and the magnetic card. We had heard of people getting asked for money for this that and the other but we paid nothing more than were expecting too.
