It has been a while since we visited the Holiday Fort Golf Club in person, and we would like to know what is the situation regarding the Golf Facilities there? Is there a driving range? Or a practise area? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We were last there early August. The grass was mowed and "the Course" is laid out with 3 or 4 holes- that's the entire space allotted to "the Golf" used up. From a distance it looks attractive and there is a set of Golf Clubs available at Reception but on closer inspection "the Greens" are not playable by the serious Golfer- weeds and course grass. A few people would try to play Golf, practise driving balls that kind of thing but it basically is used as a general leisure area. That in itself would discourage Golf as the vast majority of visitors using the facility have no knowledge of Golf and would not be aware of the dangers of Golf balls flying about and a lot of small children frequently accessing the area also. However, it is an attractive area similar to a park and very popular in the evenings with young families walking toddlers and couples having romantic walks and well behaved teenagers sitting around in small groups watching the sun set. Activities like people doing yoga or flying kites but not football though I did see some young children with small tennis/badminton rackets playing with their parents, occasional small bikes, buggies generally just for a short time in the late evening, not the kind of activities one would associate with a Golf Course in western Europe, are going on frequently but not all day.

Let's get this right once & for all this is not a golf course just a weed bed, so let all kids use this area

The Management keep the grass mown and the water sprinklers come on every night but without specialised knowledge or training in golf course management, it's not going to be enough. The space allotted is not big enough, the 4 holes would be pitch and putt standard in size. My husband who works on a Golf Course says there is insufficient length for a Driving Range. The vast majority of visitors coming to Sunny Beach in past 2 years are not familiar with Golf, our Apt overlooks the Course and there would have been a few people trying to teach themselves and a couple of family groups amusing themselves like on a pitch and putt but this wouldn't warrant the Management employing people with expertise to upkeep the "Course". If you want to play "real" Golf, I believe there is a new Course being built not far from the Airport- I have no details on when it's due to open. The demand at the moment in HFGC seems to be for a green space that can be put to a variety of uses and it is nice to see a good growth of grass- it really stands out from the rubble and wasteland area between HFGC and Nessebar Fort.
