2 bed appartment for two weeks - 25 euros. Includes working a/c and daughter taking 3 hour showers ( slight exaggeration - just)

Another point to make. Bills are relatively low but payment is to Fortnoks a/c in Lithuania which means you are into paying cost of international funds transfer which could be more than the actual bill. I ended up paying in advance for this year (2007).

I already had euros in a UK a/c and it costs about £20 flat fee to transfer to Lithuania and so I transferred 200 euros. Even if you have a Bulgarian a/c, paying Fortnoks is an international transfer and would be charged as such. Fortnoks ought to have a Bulgarian a/c for these type of payments. I will ask them about it when I am over.

Electric/Water Bills

When i was over in May i paid my bill for last year (2006) in cash at the office on site. It was only 15 levs but i only went over for one week.
I was given a receipt.

I would ask if you could pay when you go over and wheter you can leave some money for them to draw down off. I cant see them minding as they can get some interest if they deposit the money into a bank account.

Couldn't read the meter !

I visited my Messambria apartment recently, and tried to read my electic meter, situated behind a white plastic panel in the bathroom.

After removing the panel, I was annoyed to find that the dial was attached in such a way ,so that it was facing towards the ceiling , and so, could not be read ! :x

Anyone else had the same problem ?

Hi Coachman,

I thought the electricity meters are located in the downstairs lobby areas of each block. The water meters are behind the white plastic panels in the bathroom.

On our last visit to Messambria I took the water readings but have yet to ask to see our electricity readings despite having paid last years bills for the amounts asked for by FN.

I would not dream of accepting my utility bills in the UK without veryfying the charges with meter readings etc. so why am I so laid back and accept the charge without the detail?

I will be asking FN for more detailed billing this year. Has anyone else asked for and received detailed billings from FN which they have been able to verify?

Good point Yorkie...
I have left money at the office but appears to be going down to faster than I expected. I think we should get proper meter readings.

Hi All I know this topic has been covered before but it has not had a resoonse for a while.

Has anybody had a proper bill for electric and water ,by that i mean a meter reading with actual figures and is there a quarterly charge or anything.

People seem to be paying what is asked without any questions like where is THE READINGS it cant be that hard to set up.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Admin please explain

I have asked the office various questions on this subject today 06 11 2007,as regards electric. These are sent to your complex, the usage of units and the rates are applied. Fortnoks do not make the rate and neither do they make any percentage of profit . As for water the same applies, the bills are via computer to the manager of each individual complex. There are various ways of payment ,you can open a bank account in bg, from there you can pay direct debit, or you can leave money with your complex manager. You can use the services of your property management company, if they do not provide this service then it might be wise to ask...as regards credit/debit cards fortnoks are working hard with their bank here in bg, to hopefully have this in place for next year..
If anyone would like us to sort out any bills please email us.

Hi Di Sean

Thanks for the reply,if these bills are computer generated then I would presume that we can ask for a computer generated reading :?

Keep up the good work with your posts and enjoy your Merlot

Hi Ken,
Yes I would presume that too, next time we are at office (almost everyday) then we will ask the question.

We are only too happy to help.

I emailed Grand Resort 3 weeks ago requesting an itemised bill for water/electricity from last summer, with no response as yet. Not sure if they are able to email these to us so will try again.
