Easyjet are to start a service from Manchester to Sofia on the 11th december. Just tried it out and got 11th dec to 20th dec (thur to sat. 9 days) for 2.
£112 all in. Thats if you take hand luggage and drop all the other add ons. It was considereably more for xmas week. The road trip to sunny beach was, I believe about 6 hours. This will eventually reduce as more motorway gets built I guess. ps. Hello Sean and Di.

This is great news, I have also looked at the cost for traveling by train from Sofia to Bourgas and it seems to be around

Hi,
We travelled Easy Jet to Sofia in March (from Gatwick) with the intention of traveling by train to Bourgas and then on to our apt at PFB. Our taxi driver (on route to our hotel) put us off the train idea as it is mainly used by the gypsies and the toilet facilities are not too good.

We selected our hotel because it was close to the railway station, but fortunately this is next to the coach station which we used. It took 5 1/2 hrs to Bourgas, inc. a 30 min comfort break and cost less than the train. The trip was very enjoyable. We had arranged a pick up at Bourgas but the coach continues to Sunny Beach. It also continues to St. Vlas but you may have to change coach?

Hope this is some help. We are travelling out again on Sept 1st for a week from Manchester, look forward to seeing anyone who will be there then.
